Original western electric candlestick: the classic western electric dial candlestick first introduction in 1919. This phone includes an original western electric no.5 dial and cloth covered cords. An internal electronic bell will notify users of incoming calls.
The first patent for dials for telephones was registered in 1891. The Bell system bought the rights to manufacture a dialing apparatus and began making them in 1919. The telephone chosen to implement the dial system was the 50AL, which was later superseded by the 51AL. The Western Electric candlestick phone was made throughout the 1930s, even after the introduction of the Western Electric 202 desk telephone.
